Non lontano dalla diga di Mae Kuang che ho visitato una ventina di giorni fa è collocata un'altra riserva d'acqua chiamata Huai Cho reservoir
che avevo intravisto in occasione della visita al wat doi thaen phra pha luang, un suggestivo e antico tempio nella foresta.
La Huai Cho reservoir è circondata dalle colline e immersa nel verde che in questa stagione assume decine di sfumature diverse. Il motivo della mia visita era percorrere il sentiero che consente di fare il giro completo costeggiando lo specchio d'acqua. Sono partita dal lato destro, in senso antiorario, quindi la prima parte del percorso è praticamente interna al bosco, anche se lo specchio d'acqua sarà praticamente sempre visibile. Il sentiero è ben individuato e non ci sono possibilità di perdersi. I saliscendi non sono né eccessivi né impegnativi e camminare all'ombra ha i suoi vantaggi. Alla fine del di questo sentiero sulla sinistra c'è una solida e larga passerella che consente di raggiungere agevolmente il lato opposto che è in realtà la strada asfaltata e pianeggiante.
Da questa sponda è possibile ammirare il chedi del wat doi thaen phra pha luang.
Essendo tardo pomeriggio ci sono vari gruppi di gente del posto che stanno facendo pic-nic sulle spiaggette e altri direttamente sulla strada. Diversi ragazzi sono seduti sul parapetto sopra la chiusa, il sole è ormai basso dietro le colline, l'aria ancora umida per i recenti acquazzoni regala una luce struggente e limpida, che sfuma tra l'arancione e il rosa.

Not far from the Mae Kuang dam that I visited about twenty days ago is another water reservoir called Huai Cho reservoir that I had glimpsed during my visit to wat doi thaen phra pha luang, an evocative and ancient temple in the forest. The Huai Cho reservoir is surrounded by hills and immersed in greenery that in this season takes on dozens of different shades. The reason for my visit was to walk the trail that allows you to go all the way around by skirting the body of water.
I started from the right side, counterclockwise, so the first part of the path is practically inside the woods, although the mirror of water will be practically always visible. The trail is well marked and there is no chance of getting lost. The ups and downs are neither excessive nor challenging and walking in the shade has its advantages. At the end of this path on the left there is a solid and wide footbridge that allows you to easily reach the opposite side which is actually the paved and flat road. From this side you can admire the chedi of wat doi thaen phra pha luang. Being late afternoon there are several groups of locals who are having picnics on the little beaches and others directly on the road. Several guys are sitting on the parapet above the lock, the sun is now low behind the hills, the air still humid from the recent downpours gives a poignant and clear light that fades between orange and pink.
