WAT SI NAWARAT (Wat Thung Siao) - Chiang Mai Street Art

Nell'ultimo fine settimana ho fatto visita al tempio di Wat Si Nawarat (Wat Thung Siao), qualche chilometro a sud di Chiang Mai. Si tratta di un piccolo tempio in mezzo alla campagna, bene mantenuto con una particolare caratteristica: una lunga parete esterna decorata con dei murales riproducenti scene di vita quotidiana a grandezza naturale. La sensazione di fronte a queste immagini è molto piacevole, non mi intendo di arte quindi il mio giudizio è del tutto soggettivo. In rete non sono riuscita a trovare informazioni utili sul tempio o sui murales. 

Quando sono andata nella sala principale del tempio c'era un gruppo di mae chee (suore buddiste) in preghiera e sono quindi rimasta all'esterno per non disturbare.

Le costruzioni principali sono tre, più un chedi,  due sono in muratura e una in legno.

Fa sempre parte del tempio una grande vasca per la raccolta dell'acqua al cui centro è collocata una statua, mentre sul bordo vasca è collocato lo spazio per le offerte.

Quando sono andata c'erano diversi volontari che stavano allestendo dei piccoli banchetti probabilmente per un evento che si sarebbe svolto in serata.

Last weekend I visited the temple of Wat Si Nawarat (Wat Thung Siao), a few kilometers south of Chiang Mai. It is a small temple in the middle of the countryside, well maintained with a particular feature: a long outer wall decorated with murals depicting life-size scenes of daily life. 

The feeling in front of these images is very pleasant, I do not have any knowledge of art so my opinion is completely subjective. In the web I could not find useful information about the temple or the murals. 

When I went there the main hall of the temple there was a group of mae chee (Buddhist nuns) praying and so I stayed outside so as not to disturb.

The main buildings are three, plus a chedi, two are in masonry and one in wood. The temple also includes a large basin for collecting water, at the centre of which is a statue, while on the edge of the basin there is space for offerings.

When I went there were several volunteers who were setting up small stalls probably for an event that would take place in the evening.
